Hey, it’s me.
I’m Kaitlin.
I started my business, She’s a Teacher Photography, at the end of my first year of teaching. In 2021, after seven years in the public classroom, I made the decision to step away from education and take my business full-time.
And man, am I glad I did!
If you’re looking for a light-hearted, boisterous creative to work with, you’ve found her.
I’m a storyteller, both with words (I mean, once an English teacher always an English teacher, right?) and images.
That’s what I’m here to do: help you tell your story by creating photographs of you doing the things you love with the people and creatures you love the most!
Intrigued, but not sure what your session could look like? Let’s meet up for coffee and collaborate. That’s where the magic is afterall - in connection.

I was born and raised in Maine. Although I’ve lived all over the state, Portland will always be home.
-
I have a French Mastiff named Reuben and a Maine Coon who goes by Fern. Sharing a house with them is like cohabitating with a bulldozer and spicy racoon.
-
People don’t always believe me, but my last name really is Toto. I promise. I’m not cool enough to have a stage name.
Also, its origin is Italian.

For my 32nd birthday, I asked all my friends to dress like their grandparents.

A self-portrait I took in my classroom in 2022 right before I left public education. At the time, I was teaching visual arts.

A self-portrait I took in 2018. I was a broke teacher living in a Portland apartment that had sketchy electrical and a rusted fridge left over from the late eighties.

I was photographing a band practice and one of the band members took my camera and told me to sing. Instead I just burst out laughing. I don't sing.

Seven year old Kaitlin clearly startled to be at her first wedding in '97.

For my 32nd birthday, I asked all my friends to dress like their grandparents.
